I still didn’t know which year of albums (and stuff ) I would devote an entire year (or two) writing about?

As I considered the top three in the Cleveland.com list…

I decided I wasn’t overly keen on 1971. It seems VERY long ago – I was only five years old at the time and I would prefer a year I could (sort of) remember.

1969, was even further back, so I also discounted that year pretty quickly.

Led Zeppelin ll, Space Oddity, Abbey Road, Let It Bleed, Ummagumma

1991 seemed like a good idea, I thought to myself. Two full decades after (one of) the supposed best years in rock music too.

1991 was also the second most “modern” one in the Cleveland.com list of stand-out musical years.

After this brief deliberation, I eventually settled on the second year of the decade. It was after all the year that alternative rock music entered the mainstream. Imagine that, gnarly long hairs with loud guitars at the top of the charts! It certainly smelled like teen spirit to me.

Use Your Illusion l, Nevermind, Blue Lines, Ten, Screamadelica

I even remember 1991 happening. Well most of it anyway. Beer and whisky had begun pilfering many of my memory cells by then!!

It was also the year I went to play cricket in Ireland, of all places!
